My Chic Events Tips
We love to have something delivered to the hotel room every night for turndown service during destination weddings..whether its hot chocolate chip cookies with milk or kissing whale candies I like to reinforce that sense of place. In this instance there was a Y2K party for the younger set and we made up hangover kit invitations to the party the next night.

If, like the high school yearbook, a tent could get "best looking"....a Sperry tent would be one of the main contenders. These tents are elegant and have that nostalgic nod. They also don't require a tremendous amount of fuss.

The shell bouquet is one of my first signature pieces. I cannot get away from them...we have made hundreds of them for brides. The trick is not to make them too big as they get a bit heavy but the beauty of them, aside from the obvious, is that you will have it forever!

Lighting is always tricky when guests are moving from here to there on an island or in the woods. There is usually very little ambient light and the going can be a bit treacherous. For that reason We love these bamboo whip pools with the Chinese Lanterns. They wash the surface in warm light and the movement is fun and a bit flirty.

I love clear tops on destination jobs for rehearsal dinners. It takes the emphasis off of ceiling treatments and really gives you a sense of place. I make sure I work closely with the lighting designer to spot strategic trees and foliage along the periphery of the tent for maximum impact.

As you may have noticed, our blog has been a little quite lately. The last few weeks have been very busy as we’ve had a few weddings and have been prepping for a busy wedding season ahead! We have just a few open dates left for this summer and are starting to book for 2012! We promise to try to post more often during the summer busy months- so check back frequently! Planning your wedding is supposed to be fun, exciting, and enjoyable! I think every bride has her moments of stress, after all there are so many decisions to be made and often times it’s not just about what you want, it’s about what your fiance wants and potentially your family and friends are pressuring decisions as well!
There’s a common misconception that wedding planners are only for the rich, but the thing is, wedding planners/coordinators can save you money and much headache, as they often get discounts from vendors that they then pass along to their clients and can also save you from making a bad decision when it comes to booking a vendor with a bad reputation or purchasing diy projects when buying the item already made may be more cost effective! They can help you decipher the large world of wedding vendors and helping you find the right match for your budget, personality and style!

No, it’s not because it’s what we do and we want people to hire us! As I mentioned in yesterdays post even a planner needs a Day of planner to be able to make sure everything runs smoothly. You may be extremely organized, but who is going to make sure the centerpieces are on the table, that the DJ knows where to set up, the favors are placed where you wanted, that the guest book is out, that the photographer is running on schedule, that the caterer knows to have the food ready a little later because the ceremony ran late? Who’s going to let the DJ know you’re ready for toasts or make sure there’s never a lull in the events?
You’ve spent hours, months, possibly years planning this one day that marks a huge milestone in your life! You want to be able to share it with your closest family and friends and you want everyone to be able to enjoy the day!

Beach Theme Weddings
The friends and family you’ve invited to witness your ceremony are the closest people in your life. Many have looked forward to this for as long as they can remember. Each brings with them a memory, a wish, a thought, a blessing that touches their heart and certainly touches yours.
At the entrance to your ceremony, set a table with pens and some ribbon cut into yard-long pieces. On your computer, type a note that's placed in a picture frame inviting each of your guests to write something special on one of the ribbons. Request that they take the ribbon and tie it to something decorative near where you will say your vows — like the beautiful arches pictured above. When it comes time to exchange your vows, the collective energy and wishes of the most important people in your lives will surround you and envelope you with love.
What could possibly be more sentimental and meaningful than being embraced by the loving thoughts of so many! After the ceremony, have someone collect all the ribbons, roll them up and place them in a decorative box to hold the wishes of each and every guest.
